C/C++ Software Engineer

Job Introduction
FREQUENTIS Solutions & Services (FSS) as a member of the Austrian Group FREQUENTIS AG, is focused on software development, system engineering and delivery of safety-critical voice communication and information systems. Our solutions are developed and distributed in the following business segments: Air Traffic Management & Defence (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management), Public Safety (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services) and Public Transport & Maritime (railway and urban transport solutions, vessel traffic management).

We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer to strengthen our growing product team and help scale a high-demand solution evolving from an incubator initiative into a mature product. You will join a cross-functional, self-organizing team building the backbone of safety-critical communication systems, where reliability is essential and quality is non-negotiable.You will own features end-to-end—from initial design to final release—working with modern C++ in a microservices environment supporting real-time communication.

Key Tasks
  • Design, implement, and integrate backend services in C11++ and beyond
  • Functions responsibility and design through implementation, integration, and release within a cross-functional team
  • Write and maintain automated tests (unit tests, integration tests ) as a natural part of your development workflow
  • Participate in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback, as part of a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility
  • Collaborate with teammates in agile ceremonies, refine requirements together, and make pragmatic trade-offs as a team
Key Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++11 and above ), with focus on writing well-structured, maintainable, and long-lasting software
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as RTP, SIP
  • Experience with CMake as a build system and working with GCC toolchains
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins) and static analysis tools (e.g. Coverity)
  • Experience with code coverage tooling and performance profiling
  • Experience with C++ testing frameworks (e.g. Google Test or comparable)
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum)
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) is an advantage

Employee requirements

Minimum achieved education -  secondary school with an A-Levels equivalent

Education in the field
  • Information Technology
  • Telecommunications

Language skills -  English - Advanced (C1)
