Job Introduction
FREQUENTIS Solutions & Services s. r. o., as a member of the Austrian Group FREQUENTIS AG, is focused on software development, system engineering and delivery of safety-critical voice communication and information systems. Frequentis provides mission‑critical communication, information, and surveillance solutions that support military organisations in maintaining combat readiness and executing operations with high reliability. Your Role

We are looking for a Junior System Engineer to support the implementation and maintenance of Defence mission-critical systems, working under guidance while developing technical and operational expertise. Join our team and help make our systems even more reliable and customer oriented.

Key Tasks
Main Responsibilities​
  • Support installation, configuration, and integration of systems
  • Assist in system testing, validation, and documentation
  • Support incident handling and troubleshooting activities
  • Work with senior engineers on delivery and service tasks
  • Participate in on-site activities and customer support
  • Maintain and update technical documentation
Key Qualifications
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of Linux (RHEL preferred)
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, VoIP preferred
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in fast-evolving environments

Skills considered as an advantage
  • Basic automation (Ansible) and scripting knowledge (Bash) is an advantage
  • Interest in virtualization and system integration
  • Experience with Windows Server installation and maintenance
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with database system (MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle DBMS)
  • Experience with monitoring systems (Zabbix)
  • Experience with monitoring and backup solutions
  • Experience with service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL)

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position
  • Secondary with school-leaving examination
  • University education (Bachelor's degree)
  • University education (Master's degree)

Educational Specialization  - Information Technology, Telecommunications 

Language skills -  English - Advanced (C1) and Slovak - Intermediate (B1) 

Personality requirements and skills
  • Customer-oriented mindset with a focus on delivery excellence
  • Professional communication skills, even in critical situations
  • Willingness to undergo security clearance (NBÚ)
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call duty rotation
  • Strong professional communication and client‑relationship skills, including in critical situations and under time pressure
  • Flexible, self‑driven, goal‑oriented, and structured in your approach to work
  • Ability to follow corporate processes and standards
  • Comfortable working both on-site with customers and in the office (Vienna and Bratislava), balancing technical work with communication and coordination
  • Willingness to travel regularly to Vienna or to customer sites for installations, upgrades, and acceptance activities (typically planned, not ad-hoc)
