Job Introduction
FREQUENTIS Solutions & Services s. r. o., as a member of the Austrian Group FREQUENTIS AG, is focused on software development, system engineering and delivery of safety-critical voice communication and information systems. Our solutions are developed and distributed in the following business segments: Air Traffic Management & Defence (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management), Public Safety (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services) and Public Transport & Maritime (railway and urban transport solutions, vessel traffic management).


Your Role

We are looking for a System Engineer who will take a key role in the technical implementation and service lifecycle of our systems, ensuring both delivery excellence and high-quality service support for our customers in the Defense domain.

Key Tasks
  • Plan, design, and implement technical solutions for customer delivery projects, ensuring compliance with system requirements and quality standards including activities performed at customer´s sites
  • Integrate systems and components into complex environments
  • Perform system audits, participate in site acceptances, and ensure system readiness
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including configuration records, design specifications, and operational manuals
  • Assist customers with technical questions related to system operation, configuration, and service
  • Collaborate with Product Management on designing and extending/improving products
  • Support the transition of delivery projects into the service phase, ensuring smooth knowledge transfer and operational readiness
  • Service and maintenance duties: Handle service tickets (incidents, problems, configuration changes) within agreed response times and participate in on-call duties. Document and analyze reported incidents and problems, coordinate and carry out root cause analyses and remedies
Key Qualifications
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers (preferably RHEL), including upgrades and troubleshooting ​
  • Bash scripting proficiency ​
  • Solid experience with virtualization platforms (VMware and KVM preferred)
  • Understanding of VoIP technologies (SIP) and experience with SBC & PABX systems ​
  • Familiarity with various storage technologies and basic networking concepts and configurations (CISCO preferred)
  • ​Understanding of clustering principles
  • ​Ability to create clear technical documentation, including step-by-step guides, specifications, and requirements ​
  • Ability to quickly adapt to frequent software releases and evolving environments
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in distributed system environments
  • Precise and structured documentation practices

Beneficial experience

  • Experience with Windows Server installation and maintenance
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with database system (MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle DBMS)
  • Experience with monitoring systems (Zabbix)
  • Experience with monitoring and backup solutions
  • Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible)
  • Experience with service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL)

  • Willingness to travel regularly to Vienna or to customer’s locations
  • Willingness to undergo security clearance (NBÚ)
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call duty rotation
  • Strong professional communication and client-relationship skills, including in critical situations and under time pressure
  • Flexible, self-driven, goal-oriented and structured in your approach to work
  • Ability to follow corporate processes and standards
