Your role

As a Network Engineer in our Customer Service department, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of mission‑critical communication systems used by customers worldwide. You will work closely with service managers, system engineers, and international clients to troubleshoot complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term network solutions.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands‑on technical work, direct customer interaction, and contributing to highly reliable operational environments.

Key Tasks
Operations & Support
  • Provide Level 3 support for customer networks and communication infrastructures;
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents in close cooperation with internal teams and external partners;
  • Perform detailed root-cause analysis and implement corrective measures;
  • Monitor performance of customer systems and proactively identify potential issues.

Integration & Engineering
  • Participate in network design, configuration, and optimization for existing and new deployments;
  • Prepare and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, guidelines, and configuration baselines;
  • Support remote and on-site installation, upgrades, and migrations. 

Customer Interaction 
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customers during critical interventions;
  • Provide clear communication and professional guidance throughout service activities;
  • Participate in regular service reviews and contribute to continuous service improvement.

Compliance & Quality
  • Follow internal change management and security processes;
  • Ensure adherence to operational, security, and quality standards relevant to safety‑critical communication environments.
Key Qualifications
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Professional experience in network engineering or system operations;
  • Strong understanding of: 
    • Routing & Switching (Cisco, Juniper, or similar); 
    • Network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VRRP, VLANs, STP); 
    • Firewalls, VPN, and network security principles
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, PRTG, Nagios, etc.). ​

Skills considered as an advantage 
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems;
  • Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP/JNCIA/JNCIS;
  • Knowledge of VoIP, SIP, RTP, or other real-time communication protocols;
  • Experience in safety-critical domains (aviation, public safety, transportation, defense);
  • Scripting skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell);
  • Knowledge of German or Spanish language.

Personality requirements and skills
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving mindset, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a structured way under time pressure;
  • Strong communication skills in English;
  • Willingness to travel to our headquarters in Vienna twice a week;
  • You are flexible, self-driven, dedicated, goal-oriented and structured in how you approach your work;
