Service Engineer

Who We Are Looking For?
We are looking for a System Engineer who will take a key role in the technical implementation and service lifecycle of our systems, ensuring both delivery excellence and high-quality service support for our customers in the Defense domain.
- Act as a technical representative of FREQUENTIS towards customers for all service-related aspects
- Collaborate with Service Management and Sales teams to support the sale and renewal of maintenance and service contracts, providing technical expertise during discussions
- Assist customers with technical questions related to system operation, configuration, and service
- Coordinate and conduct root cause analyses, define corrective actions, and ensure quality service delivery
- Support the transition of delivery projects into the service phase, ensuring smooth knowledge transfer and operational readiness
- Contribute to product improvement by feeding back service experience to Product Management
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation (system descriptions, interfaces, configuration steps)
- Handle service tickets and participate in on-call duties to ensure timely resolution of operational issues
- Respond to technical enquiries (incidents, problems, configuration changes) within agreed response times
- Participate in delivery projects and other activities as required by business needs.
- Design, plan, and execute system changes or extensions to new or existing systems (change requests)
- Integrate new systems or components into existing environments
- Perform system audits, participate in site acceptances, and ensure system readiness
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers (preferably RHEL), including upgrades and troubleshooting
- Bash scripting proficiency
- Solid experience with virtualization platforms (VMware and KVM preferred)
- Understanding of VoIP technologies (SIP) and experience with SBC & PABX systems
- Familiarity with various storage technologies and basic networking concepts and configurations (CISCO preferred)
- Understanding of clustering principles
- Ability to create clear technical documentation, including step-by-step guides, specifications, and requirements
- Ability to quickly adapt to frequent software releases and evolving environments
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in distributed system environments
- Professional and calm communication skills, even in critical situations
- Precise and structured documentation practices
- Willingness to travel to Vienna or to customer’s locations internationally
- Willingness to undergo security clearance
- Willingness to participate in an on-call duty rotation
- Experience with Windows Server installation and maintenance
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Experience with database system (MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle DBMS)
- Experience with monitoring systems (Zabbix)
- Experience with monitoring and backup solutions
- Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible)
- Experience with service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL)
- Additional languages (especially Spanish) are a strong plus
