FREQUENTIS Solutions & Services s. r. o., as a member of the Austrian Group FREQUENTIS AG, is focused on software development, system engineering and delivery of safety-critical voice communication and information systems. Our solutions are developed and distributed in the following business segments: Air Traffic Management & Defence (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management), Public Safety (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services) and Public Transport & Maritime (railway and urban transport solutions, vessel traffic management).

Public Transport solutions leverage more than seventy years of experience focusing on safety-critical communications and applications. With its strong position in operations communication, as well as incident and crisis management, the company also holds the number one market share in GSM-R dispatcher terminal positions; more than 10,000 units have been delivered to customer control centres in over 25 countries.
Railway operations are evolving – for the better. To excel in today’s world, where agility, efficiency, and safety are paramount, rail controllers need to be able to communicate with numerous stakeholders across different networks, such as GSM-R and LTE, and make well-informed decisions effortlessly. This is where Frequentis solutions come in, offering a unified dispatcher interface that unlocks greater flexibility to meet the challenges that railway control centres typically face.

Who We are Looking For
We’re seeking a System Engineer to provide high-quality service support for our customers in the Public Transport domain. Key Tasks
  • Responding to technical enquiries in all service aspects (incident and problem reports, technical issues ...) within the contractually agreed response times. First point of contact for customers with regard to all technical service issues during system lifecycles
  • Coordinating and carrying out root cause analyses and remedies
  • Designing, planning and technically executing changes and extensions to existing systems (change requests)
  • Integrating systems and system components into existing system environments
  • Performing system audits
  • Collaborating with Product Management on designing and extending/improving products
  • Supporting transition of delivery project to support phase as well as building up required know how to support handed over solutions
  • Drafting/updating technical documentation on systems and their interfaces
  • Participate in delivery projects and other activities as required by business needs
Key Qualifications
Know-how & experience

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (particularly RHEL), including updates, upgrades and troubleshooting issues
  • Bash scripting
  • Solid experience with virtualization platforms (VMware and KVM preferred)
  • Experience with SBC & PABX (VoIP)
  • Experience with various storage technologies
  • Good Understanding of basic networking
  • Understanding of clustering and high-availability concepts
  • Able to generate documentation: Step-by-Step instructions for other engineers as well as Specifications and Requirements
  • Able to quickly adapt to frequent software releases

Special skills and abilities
  • Analytical skills to localize errors and sources of errors in distributed systems
  • Professional communication and client relationship skills, even during critical situations and under time pressure
  • Precise and thorough documentation abilities
  • Willingness to travel to Vienna at least once per week

Skills considered as an advantage, but not disqualifying

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows server, including updates, upgrades & troubleshooting issues
  • Experience with cloud platforms
  • Experience with monitoring software (e.g. Zabbix)
  • Experience with backup solutions (e.g. Veeam)
  • Experience with Ansible (basic concepts)
  • German language skills are an advantage, but not mandatory
