Windows System Engineer

Job Introduction
FREQUENTIS Solutions & Services (FSS) as a member of the Austrian Group FREQUENTIS AG, is focused on software development, system engineering and delivery of safety-critical voice communication and information systems. Our solutions are developed and distributed in the following business segments: Air Traffic Management & Defence (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management), Public Safety (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services) and Public Transport & Maritime (railway and urban transport solutions, vessel traffic management).

At Frequentis Public Safety, you’ll help build mission critical communication and control centre solutions used by emergency services when every second counts. Our platforms combine reliable voice, data, and multimedia technologies to give police, fire, ambulance, and critical infrastructure teams the real time situational awareness they need to make fast, life saving decisions.

You’ll work with modern, open standard technologies and contribute to next generation virtualised control rooms, shaping how safety critical operations evolve in the future. Your Role

We are looking for a System Engineer who will be responsible for the technical implementation of our services and the associated quality assurance measures during the service period in the Public Safety domain.

Key Tasks
Main Responsibilities
  • Integrating systems and system components into existing system environments
  • Designing, planning and technically executing changes and extensions to existing systems (change requests)
  • Updating technical documentation on systems and their interfaces
  • Coordinating with product development teams and/or development teams on error analysis and troubleshooting
Key Qualifications
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Windows servers - installation, configuration, and maintenance, including updates, upgrades & troubleshooting issues
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Solid experience with virtualization platforms (VMware preferred)
  • Experience with various storage technologies
  • Good understanding of basic networking
  • Understanding of clustering concepts
  • Generating documentation: step-by-step instructions for other engineers as well as specifications and requirements

Skills considered as an advantage
  • Experience with cloud platforms, monitoring software, backup solutions
  • Experience with SBC & PABX
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (particularly RHEL), including updates, upgrades & troubleshooting issues
  • Experience with Ansible

Personality Requirements & Skills
  • Analytical skills to localize errors and sources of errors in distributed systems
  • Professional communication and client relationship skills, even during critical situations
  • Precise and thorough documentation abilities
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • You are flexible, self-driven, dedicated, goal-oriented and structured in how you approach your work
  • You can integrate yourself into a larger cooperation, follow corporate processes

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position
  • Secondary with school-leaving examination
  • Follow-up/Higher Professional Education
  • University education (Bachelor's degree)
  • University education (Master's degree)

Educational Specialization - Information Technology, Telecommunications

Language skills - English - Upper intermediate (B2)
