Job Introduction
The Frequentis Group is an international supplier of communication and information systems for control centres with safety-critical tasks. These ‘Control Centre Solutions’ are developed and distributed by Frequentis in the business segments Air Traffic Management (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management, air defence) and Public Safety & Transport (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services, vessel traffic and railways). GroupEAD is a unique AIM and navigation service provider that has been operating the EAD on behalf of Eurocontrol since 2003. EAD - the European Aeronautical Database – is the only multinational, centralised AIS database system in the world. EAD allows national aeronautical information providers to enter and maintain their data in a central repository. EAD enables data users – such as aircraft operators, private pilots, and the general public – to retrieve and download AIS data from the system in real-time. Over the last 10 years, 46 States and ANSPs have decided to migrate to the full use of the EAD and have benefitted from the cost reductions associated with it.
The position is located at GroupEAD Frankfurt premises in Eschborn. The owner of the position is a direct report to the GroupEAD CEO.
Key Tasks
- Install and configure all IT equipment in Frankfurt and Madrid premises
- Organize and ensure a high degree of IT HW availability
- Analyze and, if possible, solve IT SW and HW problems
- Key account contact between GroupEAD and other IT related contractors
- Organise the development and maintenance of GroupEAD web page and coordinate with platform provider
- Develop, implement and maintain IT SW as long as not updated by the respective service provider
- Plan IT development in HW and SW used at GroupEAD including the provision of all relevant information for other planning processes (e.g. budget and financial planning, scheduling etc.)
Key Qualifications
- Completed degree in a technical, scientific subject (e.g. computer science)
- First specific professional experience in the operation of modern heterogeneous system landscapes would be an advantage
- Good IT, communication, and teaming skills
- Excellent command of English in speech and writing (minimum B2), the knowledge of another European language (preferable German) would be an advantage
- Good understanding of IT Quality Management or IT Safety Management principles
- Experience and skills in writing of IT specifications, IT professional instructions, drafting notes, working papers and reports in English would be an advantage
- Knowledge Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Microsoft SQL, HTML / CSS
- Knowledge in Javascript, “.NET” application and programming
- Knowledge in Network administration
- Ability to talk to audience or customers (decision maker level and expert level)
- Experience in cloud computing will be an advantage
- Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural team
- Ability and willingness to travel.
