Job Introduction
The Frequentis Group is an international supplier of communication and information systems for control centres with safety-critical tasks. These ‘Control Centre Solutions’ are developed and distributed by Frequentis in the business segments Air Traffic Management (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management, air defence) and Public Safety & Transport (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services, vessel traffic and railways). With headquarters in Vienna, the company employs more than 2200 people worldwide, with subsidiaries, regional offices and representatives in over 50 countries. We are looking for a person who solves complex problems in a safety-critical environment with creativity, accuracy and passion.
The products are part of a larger Tower products suite:
· smartTOOLS – our integrated information and control system provides a complete portfolio of applications related to tower and runway control, and weather information.
· smartSTRIPS – our flight data management product, is designed for towers and approach units of all sizes and degrees of operational complexity.
· smartVISION – our video-based enhanced visualisation solution optimised for ATC and airport environments, providing ATC-grade video presentation and augmentation.
Together with our customers and partners, YOU will shape the future of air traffic control and contribute to the development of leading-edge features and thus to the continuous development of the industry.
Key Tasks
- Development of innovative information systems for the rapid and safe handling of air traffic
- Participation in the entire development process (analysis, architecture, design, implementation, maintenance, documentation and verification)
- Realization of sophisticated product and customer features
- Helping to shape the future of aviation and realizing sophisticated product and customer features with video and image processing as well as artificial intelligence and assistant technologies
- Working in an agile development environment (Scrum), Test-Driven-Development, Pair Programming and Continuous Integration are part of our daily team routine
- Working with our customers, we design and develop leading-edge features for the future of air traffic control
- Our high awareness of the safety-critical application area of our software constantly and continuously guides us in our work towards clean solutions, high quality and clean code
- Continuous improvement is our concern (Kaizen)
Key Qualifications
- Development of innovative information systems for the rapid and safe handling of air traffic
- Completed technical education (University)
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience as a software engineer with JAVA and/or C++
- Good knowledge of Linux, scripting (e.g. Bash, Python), networks and container technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) is an advantage
- Interest in current topics and willingness to learn new test frameworks, programming languages, protocols, control systems (e.g. for cameras) and video data streams
- Enjoy working in an agile environment as well as using Test-Driven-Development and CI/CD to achieve outstanding product quality
- Excellent English skills, both written and spoken; German skills are an advantage
- Initial experience with Jira, Jenkins as well as requirements and test management systems would be advantageous
- GPU / Shader Programming knowledge would be a plus
- Knowledge of algorithms for Deep Learning would be an advantage
- Communicative person who values quality and teamwork
