Test Automation Engineer – Air Traffic Management

Job Introduction
The Frequentis Group is an international supplier of communication and information systems for control centres with safety-critical tasks. These ‘Control Centre Solutions’ are developed and distributed by Frequentis in the business segments Air Traffic Management (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management, air defence) and Public Safety & Transport (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services, vessel traffic and railways). In Cluj we started in 2009 and our local team currently has 150+ colleagues and is growing.

You will be part of a newly formed team working on testing a Radar Display (aka Air Situation Display) for the Eurocontrol Maastricht Fallback System (FBS) controller working position (CWP). The project will be based on a Java based in-house development tool ODS Open Platform, a specialized environment for the implementation of graphical user interfaces in the ATC domain.

We are developing for a safety-critical environment, following industry safety standards, where high availability and redundancy are essential requirements.

Key Tasks
  • Participate in the requirements engineering sessions to get a better understanding of the requirements system
  • Implementing automatic testing using different tools like Robot Framework and other internal proprietary tools
  • Ensuring proper source code coverage with the automation tests
  • Following and grasping within the team the delivery mode agreed upon by the teams (Agile–Scrum or SAFe is considered)
Key Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on automated testing experience using Java
  • Experience with software testing
  • Experience with object-oriented Java programming
  • Experience with Robot Framework
  • Good knowledge of various testing types, test case creation
  • End-to-end testing knowledge (both front and back-end testing)
  • Basic knowledge of operating systems (Linux) and networks
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery with exposure to the Maven build system
  • Experience with development tools (e.g. JIRA, GitLab/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Coverity, JAMA)
  • Excellent English knowledge (both written and spoken)
  • A relevant certification (like ISTQB) would be a plus
