At Frequentis Hardware & Embedded Technologies, we work at the core of our safety-critical communication systems – the embedded Linux operating system.
This role requires diligence, thoroughness, and a solid technical understanding. At Frequentis Hardware & Embedded Technologies, we develop and maintain our embedded Linux operating system – the technological foundation of our safety-critical communication systems. We take over software versions from internal and external development teams, integrate them into our lab and test environments, and carry out initial system and functional tests. We analyze problem reports, assess their plausibility, and prepare them in a way that allows our developers to focus quickly and efficiently on troubleshooting. System security also plays a central role – through tasks such as security hardening, validating security-relevant configurations, or continuously analyzing potential vulnerabilities during integration. In addition, we maintain our CI/CD infrastructure and lab facilities, work closely with development teams, and are happy to get hands-on when new hardware needs to be set up or tests need to be expanded.

Key Tasks
  • Integration and commissioning of embedded Linux software versions 
  • Setup, maintenance, and expansion of our CI/CD environments (Jenkins, Git, Docker, Bash) 
  • Execution of smoke tests and validations on real hardware 
  • Analysis of customer-reported issues and preparation for development 
  • Support in setting up automated tests Contribution to security-related tasks such as security hardening, CVE analysis, and validation of safety-critical configurations 
  • Collaboration with developers and internal stakeholders
Key Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Completed education or degree in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a comparable field
  • Initial experience with Embedded Linux
  • You bring technical understanding, an analytical mindset, and team spirit – and you enjoy bringing together hardware and software components.
Technical Know-How
  • Solid knowledge of Linux (command line, system services, shell); experience with version control (Git), continuous integration (Jenkins); basic knowledge of Python and Bash; familiarity with common OSS components in Linux distributions (systemd, OpenSSH, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of embedded hardware (UART, GPIO, bootloader, etc.)
  • Interest in IT security and initial exposure to topics such as security hardening, CVE analysis, or secure system configurations.
Soft Skills & Mindset 
  • Careful, structured, and responsible working style
  • Strong awareness of quality and safety in safety-critical systems
  • Enjoyment in troubleshooting and analysing complex systems
  • You feel comfortable in an international team and speak fluent German and English.

Salary
The remuneration for this position consists of: The collective agreement minimum salary of EUR 39,978 gross per year (based on a 38.5 hour week) PLUS an overpayment in line with the market depending on your professional qualifications and experience.
