Operational Product Manager - Public Transport (all genders)

Public Transport
Vienna FREQUENTIS AG From now on Full time
Job Introduction
Frequentis Group with headquarters in Vienna is an international supplier of communication and information systems for control centres with safety-critical tasks. Worldwide, more than 500 customers in some 150 countries with more than 45,000 workstations already trust our know-how and proven experience.

In the Public Transport business unit, we are facing a major technological transition from GSM‑R to FRMCS across all our European railway customers. Our Public Transport division enables and supports a smooth migration of existing solutions towards the new railway communication standard. In doing so, we – and you – contribute to the mobility of the future and to improving the environmental footprint of the transport sector (“Green Deal”).
Key Tasks
  • Strategic Implementation: Translation of the product strategy into a holistic product and lifecycle roadmap for the applications and system components of our Rail Dispatcher solution FTS 3020, as well as the derivation of concrete development, rollout and improvement measures.

  • Project and Product Management: End‑to‑end responsibility for coordinating cross‑functional development, quality, safety, security and release activities, including cost, resource and backlog management across the entire product lifecycle.

  • Operational Engineering & System Engineering: Active involvement in engineering activities together with the system engineers, including the planning, standardisation and documentation of installation, commissioning and rollout processes, as well as support for deployment and configuration automation (e.g. Ansible for structured YAML‑based configurations) to ensure quality, reproducibility and stable operations.

  • Team Leadership: Functional and coordinative leadership of a virtual, interdisciplinary product development team and the dedicated system engineers, while fostering close collaboration between product management, development, delivery, procurement and logistics.

  • Requirements & Stakeholder Management: Translation of product, customer and system requirements into implementable specifications and ensuring consistency between product vision, requirements and technical implementation; acting as the single point of contact for all product‑related topics.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Transparent communication of the product and lifecycle roadmap to all relevant stakeholders and close, ongoing collaboration with the Strategic Product Manager.
